What “The Dog Way” ISN’T
The Dog Way isn’t about what "people" think is motivating for dogs. So we don’t use bribe or prevention-based methods. Our success isn’t about using the conventional rewards and punishment most of us are accustomed to.
NO BRIBES, TREATS, CLICKERS, CHOKE CHAINS, OR TRAINING DEVICES.
Dogs don't use them, so neither do we!
What “The Dog Way” IS
The Dog Way is about guiding the behavior of dogs and their owners based on what is naturally motivating for us both. Dogs live in a very physical and sensory world driven by their need to understand and follow life’s rules and where they fit in any groups hierarchy. Everything about guiding and directing their behavior starts with understanding The Dog Way of thinking. That’s what we teach. And that’s why the success of these methods is unparalleled in any forum.
Most training with The Dog Way is in private session format. We find private lessons most effective because every dog is very different in many ways and every person's needs, abilities, and lifestyles are very different. Only private training allows us to focus on the unique needs and developmental pace of both you and your dog.
WE FOCUS ON PERSONAL CONSISTENCY AND DISCIPLINE TO REMOVE CONFUSION AND ESTABLISH YOU AS YOUR DOG’S CLEAR LEADER.
“The Dog Way” Method
The Dog Way is so effective because it utilizes the natural canine design to live in a group as part of one hierarchical unit.
As our dog's companion, WE are OUR dog's unit and it’s absolutely critical that we establish ourselves as the leader of that unit. Every dog instinctively knows there must be a strong, clear leader for the entire pack to survive. Otherwise THEY will be instinctively mandated to lead and that's where all the problems begin.
When leadership is questionable, our dogs will be instinctively forced to:
1) Question our ability to lead
2) Assume a lead position.
3) Make their own decisions resulting in unwanted and often dangerous behaviors.
With consistent and proper use of The Dog Way methods, we have helped countless people establish a clear position of trust, respect, and authority with their dogs. This has allowed owners to set necessary rules, modify unwanted behaviors, and perpetuate desired behaviors, allowing them to establish the highest levels of trust, respect, responsibilities, and freedom with their dogs.
When we establish and maintain our position as the leader of our dog’s pack, with clear rules and expectations, we reduce confusion, stress, and anxiety for everyone. The Dog Way methods have produced happier, healthier, and better-behaved dogs that develop stronger and deeper relationships with their owners than ever before possible.
Ultimately, that’s our goal - to improve the safety, health, and happiness of people and their dogs all over the world!
